For the first time in 2024, the NT News has launched Women of the Year awards brought to you by Charles Darwin University. It's an opportunity to celebrate and recognise the inspirational, influential and innovative women of the Northern Territory.
There are nine categories for those women who go above and beyond to make our community and the Northern Territory a better place.

Round 8 of the Visitor Experience Enhancement Program (VEEP) is now open
Round 8 of the Visitor Experience Enhancement Program (VEEP) is now open, offering a total funding pool of $3 million to NT tourism and hospitality businesses.
VEEP assists the tourism industry in undertaking projects that will improve the on-ground visitor experience in the NT.
Grant funding up to $100,000 (excluding GST) is available per successful business. Businesses will be expected to provide a minimum matching cash co-contribution.
Closing date for applications 4:00pm 7 May 2024.

The Qantas Regional Grants program is back for 2024, providing $2 million in benefits and support for Australian-based charities, community groups or individuals to contribute a direct benefit to regional Australia.

City of Darwin Sponsorship Program
The City of Darwin’s ‘2024 Sponsorship Program’, ‘Community Grants Round 1’ and ‘Reconciliation Week and NAIDOC Week funding’ are open now. This is the time to submit a funding application for events that will take place between 1 July 2024 and 30 June 2025 with the exception of Reconciliation Week and NAIDOC Week funding which is specific to their 2024 dates.
Also to advise Council’s decision to no longer offer operating subsidiaries and cooperation agreements as funding options. If your event previously operated under one of these agreements, it would remain while current. Once expired you will be required to apply through the Sponsorship Program.

Major Grant Round opens
A new round of major grants are now available to support not-for-profits through Territory Labor’s Community Benefit Fund. These grants are a fantastic way for community organisations to increase their capacity and to build on and invest in the important work that they do for our communities.
This round of Community Benefit Fund Grants includes:
- Major Community Grants: funding of up to $250,000 is available to provide services, leisure activities and opportunities to Territorians.
- Community Event Grants: funding of up to $250,000 is available to conduct major community events for the benefit of Territorians.
- Vehicle Gifting Grants: available to assist not-for-profits improve business operations and transportation requirements.
- Gambling Amelioration: funding to support the promotion of community awareness and education in respect of problem gambling.
