2024 Northern Territory Cruise Forum
Tourism NT, in partnership with Tourism Top End and the Top End Visitor Information Centre are pleased to present the 2024 Northern Territory Cruise Forum – a sea of opportunity.

Date:          Wednesday 8th May, 2024 
Location:   Vibe Hotel Darwin Waterfront
Time:         Welcome 8:30am I Forum 9:00am - 4:30pm I Networking 4:30pm - 6:00pm
Cost:          FREE + lunch is included!

This year’s forum will explore the sea of opportunity within the cruise sector, with guest presenters from the Australian Cruise Association, cruise line representatives and inbound tour operators specialising in shore excursions, overland and pre and post cruise itineraries.
 
The afternoon’s open forum provides an opportunity for local tourism businesses to connect directly with cruise industry representatives to present their product.

Join Tourism NT for a tourism industry webinar
Scott Lovett, Deputy CEO of the Department of Industry Tourism and Trade invites you to join him for an industry webinar from 9:30am-10:30am, Monday 29 April.
Scott will be joined by Michael Bridge, Chair of Tourism NT Board, Samantha Bennett, General Manager of Tourism Top End and Danial Rochford, CEO of Tourism Central Australia to present recent industry updates including a wrap up of the UK sales mission undertaken in March and the Territory Tourism Discount Scheme.
Questions are encouraged in advance and can be emailed to tourism.development@nt.gov.au. There will also be time for participants to ask questions.

Nominations open for 2024 Brolga Tourism Awards

Nominations are now open for the Territory most prestigious tourism and hospitality awards the, 2024 Brolga Northern Territory Tourism Awards (Brolga Awards).

The Brolga Awards recognise Territory tourism businesses that strive for excellence in all areas of their operations, with winners in the running to win an Australian Tourism Award.

Territory based tourism operators, attractions, accommodation providers, festivals and events and industry suppliers are all encouraged to nominate their business in one of the 26 business categories.

The Brolga Awards also recognise the efforts of individuals working in the tourism industry, with individual winners celebrated for their contribution within the Territory. The awards provide value to tourism and hospitality businesses by encouraging continuous improvement.

There is a range of assistance available to aide nominees with their Brolga Award submissions.

Nominations close Wednesday, 14 August with all submissions due by 2 September 2024.

The 2024 Brolga Northern Territory Tourism Awards gala dinner will be held on Saturday, 9 November in Alice Springs.

Fee-Free TAFE Courses
The Territory Labor Government together with the Australian Government is providing fee-free TAFE courses in 2024 to upskill Territorians and ease cost of living pressures.
Under the Fee-Free TAFE program, Territorians can study various TAFE courses for free across a number of sectors including construction, agriculture, hospitality and tourism, child care, aged care and more.
Apply between January 1 and June 30 2024 and commence your studies in 2024.

ISACNT has been working on the Choose Tourism Campaign with Tourism NT delivering Tourism videos promoting careers expos, and vocational education and training pathways in Tourism, as well as components of the 2024 VET Careers Expo in Darwin and Alice Springs. Part of this campaign has attracted interest from people wanting a career in tourism. ISACNT have a list of around 60 people, who are interesting in working in the sector.

Grants & Funding

Round 8 of the Visitor Experience Enhancement Program (VEEP) is now open
Round 8 of the Visitor Experience Enhancement Program (VEEP) is now open, offering a total funding pool of $3 million to NT tourism and hospitality businesses.
VEEP assists the tourism industry in undertaking projects that will improve the on-ground visitor experience in the NT.
Grant funding up to $100,000 (excluding GST) is available per successful business.  Businesses will be expected to provide a minimum matching cash co-contribution.
Closing date for applications 4:00pm 7 May 2024.

The Territory Labor Government is boosting the Northern Territory’s rich and unique Aboriginal tourism experiences with Round 7 of the Aboriginal Tourism Grant Program opening today with a $1 million funding pool.
