RAAF Darwin Open Day
RAAF Base Darwin will open its tarmac to the public for the Exercise Pitch Black 24 Open Day between 9am-4pm on Saturday, 20 July 2024.
The Open Day is a free community event but visitors will require an entry ticket for crowd management and services. Tickets will not be available at the event and must be pre-purchased via OzTix from Midday on 20 June.

Lawler Labor Government to deliver $18 Million support package for Territory Tourism
The Lawler Labor Government will deliver an $18 million boost to the Territory’s tourism industry, with more investment in attracting more flights to the Territory and providing discounts to encourage more tourists to visit and experience everything the NT has to offer.
The new tourism support package includes $16 million extra funding for the Territory Aviation Attraction Scheme and $2 million for another round of the Territory Tourism Discount Scheme, which provides 25 per cent off select experiences and packages up to the value of $5000.

More accessible tourism for Top End parks
A tender has been released to improve disability access for the lower plunge pool at Edith Falls, to supply and install a hoist to provide visitors in wheelchairs safe access into the plunge pool.
The hoist will be designed to fit in with the natural landscape and will be fitted with a mechanism so the person in the wheelchair can operate it in a safe manner.

Investing in the visitor experience
The Lawler Labor Government continues to invest in the Territory’s tourism industry with the latest Visitor Experience Enhancement Program (VEEP) awarding more than $3.2 million to 49 businesses across the NT.
The latest Tourism Research Australia visitor results for national and international visitation year ending March 2024 released this week show a positive trend in the most recent quarter with the Territory welcoming 1.6 million visitors and $2.7 billion in visitor expenditure.
These latest visitor figures shows an upward trend in inbound markets, with 199,000 international visitors coming to the Territory, a 66% increase on the previous year.

Support Community Infrastructure and Events
Round 1 of the 2024-2025 Community Benefit Fund Major Grants are now open until 31 August 2024, to assist community organisations to increase their capacity, service delivery and establishment, and to build on and invest in the important work they do.
The Community Benefit Fund is also an important source of funding for gambling related research and amelioration programs focused on ways to reduce gambling related harm.

Limited edition number plates released to commemorate 50th anniversary of Tracy
From 1 July, Territorians can purchase limited edition ‘NT Remembering Cyclone Tracy 1974 – 2024’ number plates to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Cyclone Tracy with 200 plates released.
Cyclone Tracy had a profound impact on the Territory, 66 people died, more than 600 were injured, over 70 per cent of Darwin’s homes destroyed and 75 per cent of NT residents evacuated.
