The first 100 leading Australian businesses champion Accessible Tourism
Over 100 Australian businesses have led the way in committing to providing quality tourism experiences to a diverse community through their participation in the Accessible Tourism program.
The Accessible Tourism program is part of a suite of ATIC programs supported by the Australian Government, through Austrade’s Quality Tourism Framework Grant Program, to assist small, medium, and regional tourism businesses to enhance their quality, accessibility, and sustainability.
The Accessible Tourism program provides businesses with a comprehensive online accessibility assessment and an Accessibility Information guide for visitors. Businesses meeting essential criteria are recognised across support areas of cognitive/autism; limited mobility; low hearing; low vision; wheelchairs and scooters.
Spinal Life Australia CEO Mark Townend said that the Accessible Tourism program played an important role in guiding Australian tourism businesses to improve their accessibility.
“Tourism businesses play a key role in making Australia more accessible and inclusive, for both domestic and international visitors. The Accessible Tourism program offers great support to tourism businesses wanting to become more inclusive and be able to welcome more visitors with accessibility needs.”
The Australian Government, through Austrade is providing $8M in funding to enhance ATIC’s suite of programs.

Turn Up this Spring.
Tourism NT has launched a new campaign encouraging visitors to ‘Turn up in the NT this spring’. The campaign highlights the benefits of travelling during this time, including fewer crowds and more deals, showcasing how the NT’s weather, adventure, natural beauty, colours, connections and overall experiences are amplified or ‘turned up’ in the springtime.
NT tourism operators are encouraged to take advantage of the thousands of visitors that will come to www.northernterritory.com during the campaign period by ensuring their ATDW listing is up to date and adding a ‘spring deal’. The campaign is forecast to achieve over 4 million impressions and 86,000 clicks to www.northernterritory.com/deals.
Feature your ‘Spring Deal’ in the Turn Up campaign by:
  • Adding a compelling deal to your ATDW listing. Must be a minimum of 10% off tourism offering, or equivalent RRP value through an added incentive.
  • The deal should be valid for the campaign period, between 1 August to 31 October 2024 (travel dates can be associated with the deal).
  • Imagery used on the ATDW listing should demonstrate the experience on offer.

Note: The Territory Government announced on 11 July 2024 that a Territory Tourist Discount Scheme will soon be launched. The scheme will offer a discount off NT tourism experiences when purchasing through any of the NT Visitor Information Centres, with a focus on incentivising intra-territory travel. The 'Turn up in the NT this Spring' activity targets interstate travellers and incentivises them to book NT accommodation, tours and experiences before they arrive in the Territory.
