Aviation White Paper released

The Australian Government released the Aviation White Paper on 26 August 2024. The Aviation White Paper sets out the government’s vision for aviation towards 2050 and will deliver a range of initiatives to ensure a safe, competitive, productive and sustainable sector. The Aviation White Paper sets out a comprehensive plan to achieve the government’s vision for aviation – including 56 policy initiatives developed through extensive consultation with the aviation industry, state and territory governments, and Australian communities.

National Library of Australia

The National Library of Australia currently has a project underway to record interviews with Australians about the wide-ranging impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic. The Library will record up to 300 interviews with people in each state and territory, across urban, regional, rural and remote areas. They will speak to people of diverse cultural backgrounds, ages, genders and abilities.
The project will capture Australian perspectives on public health issues and policies, and will create a record of policy decisions, debates and medical advances that shaped Australian COVID-19 experiences. It will also create a record of Australians’ lived everyday experiences during this time.
Given the enormous impacts of the pandemic on the tourism industry, the Library is hoping to include interviews with Tourism Top End members. All interviews will be audio recorded and will be added to the Library’s collection for use by future researchers. You can find more information and express your interest in participating in an oral history interview at the following link: https://qualtricsxmhfgbh4yst.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_0PNI0ujygqjjGmi .
