The Museum and Art Gallery of the Northern Territory (MAGNT) is excited to share that the reimagined Cyclone Tracy exhibition is progressing well and will offer visitors immersive experiences and showcase Darwin's remarkable journey of response, rebuilding and resilience. The Cyclone Tracy exhibition will open on Saturday 7 December 2024.
Follow us on social media for updates.
To commemorate the 50th anniversary of Cyclone Tracy at MAGNT we are hosting a series of public programs including the world premiere of the Cyclone Tracy ABC Documentary, titled Tracy. Additionally, on Christmas Eve, the Rotary Club of Darwin North are hosting a special event called Cyclone Tracy: Survival Stories (MAGNT) Christmas Eve Special Performances. We’re also thrilled to announce a media partnership with Australian Geographic. In a moving and intimate special report, the next issue of Australian Geographic magazine revisits the drama, despair and devastation of Cyclone Tracy, 50 years after the powerful tropical storm hit Darwin on Christmas Day, 1974; killing 66 people, seriously injuring 145 and destroying 80 per cent of Australia’s northern capital.

As part of our partnership, Australian Geographic have a special offer just for you - subscribe to the Australian Geographic today and receive issue 183 (the Cyclone Tracy issue) for free - on sale 7 November 2024.
